LEDVANCE decided early on that Luigi’s Box would become a part of this plan. They had been unsatisfied with their previous search solution and decided to try something different. LEDVANCE wanted to push the D2C e-commerce segment in certain countries. LEDVANCE now has a new online shop on Shopify Plus thanks to the great work of Sounds Good Agency who are experts on such tasks.

The agency used Luigi’s Box integration for Shopify to handle product search & discovery right from the start. However, LEDVANCE was interested in more than just good search. Besides Luigi’s Box Search and Analytics, they decided to implement Recommender and Product Listing as well. LEDVANCE wanted to address a couple of challenges in one go.
Challenge 1: Custom design for LEDVANCE
LEDVANCE wanted a completely custom-designed solution for all product search & discovery tools. The design needed to match the interface of their website, including Luigi’s Box Search, Recommender, and Product Listing.
LEDVANCE positions their D2C e-shops as “showrooms” of their portfolio, and Luigi’s Box helped oblige this requirement. LEDVANCE created a custom design for Search, Recommender, and Product on the LEDVANCE website from scratch. This design was then used by Luigi’s Box as a template that helped match the design requirements for their website.
Challenge 2: Integration assistance
With a custom design and a full range of Luigi’s Box products to implement, LEDVANCE required assistance with a full-scale integration of all products.
While Luigi’s Box is easy to implement thanks to plugins and no-code integration that doesn’t require IT skills, the option to choose an assisted integration for larger projects was a welcome addition.
Challenge 3: Personalization options
LEDVANCE wanted to provide a personalized search & discovery experience on their website. They knew they could count on Luigi’s Box in this regard.
Luigi’s Box offers a full personalized search & product discovery set of tools. Thanks to AI and machine learning, the system can learn customer preferences based on their search and browsing history and customize the product selection in Search, Recommender, and Product Listing.
Challenge 4: Acquiring better filtering options
LEDVANCE’s original search solution proved difficult when it came to filtering options in searches and product lists, as lighting is a very technical product. The filters weren’t providing relevant filtering options for customers. Additionally, LEDVANCE needed a custom design for their filters as well.
Luigi’s Box Dynamic Filters feature works for both Search and Product Listing out of the box. Dynamic filtering is superior to regular filters, as it can flawlessly select only relevant filtering options for each product category. This helps customers save time during searching and browsing.
Luigi’s Box brought flashy results for LEDVANCE
After LEDVANCE provided Luigi’s Box with Figma materials, our experts used them to redesign Search, Recommender, and Product Listing and implemented them on LEDVANCE’s sandbox shop first. When everything worked well, LEDVANCE, completed with Luigi’s Box products was launched on their D2C e-shops in multiple regions, starting with the Czech D2C shop.
After successful implementation, results for the site shop.ledvance.com started rolling in. Search usage rate grew to 19%, which is 41% better than the industry average. The exit rate is at 16%, which is 35% less than the average in the industry. The click-through rate for Recommender grew to almost 3%, which is almost 12% higher than the industry average. Lastly, the Product Listing usage rate grew to 77% with a 5% conversion rate.
