Semantic search and search effectiveness

Barron wanted to improve product visibility, so the logical step was to focus on search first. Customers weren’t able to find products if there was even a slight mismatch between the search query and the products. The frequent “no results” lead to customers finding the search experience inadequate and frustrating.

Solution

Implementing Luigi’s Box Search and its Natural Language Processing that interprets natural language and context to bring the most relevant results solved the issue. Combined with advanced matching algorithms and Personalization, customers find products quickly and accurately with no frustration.

Visual product recommendations

Barron wanted to improve how customers discover products, especially in categories where appearance plays a major role in customers’ decision-making. When customers couldn’t find good alternatives, Barron would miss out on upsells or revenue from similar products in the same price range.

Solution

Luigi’s Box Recommender comes with a Visual Recommender feature that suggests the right alternatives based on visual similarity. With Luigi’s Box Recommender, Barron can boost engagement and increase order values using cross-sell and upsell recommendations—including suggestions shown in customers’ shopping carts.

Product discovery

Customers would often see the same listings and the same products without discovering anything new. These static product listing pages offered no control and no intelligent ranking of products.

Solution

Barron included Luigi’s Box Product Listing to personalize product lists based on customers’ shopping preferences. This product uses intelligent ranking to reorder products on category pages and in product lists based on signals such as profit margin, discount, popularity, and also considers personalization. This combination helps conversions grow.

Merchandising

Barron wanted to improve selective product visibility, and include promotion options on the website such as the ability to boost products to help them manage clearance listings and move them faster.

Solution

This change also opened more options for merchandising. Barron can create banners, boost and pin products directly in search results and lists. This lets Barron control which products appear in the selection, and helps them boost sales of particular items.

B2B tiered pricing

Since Barron operates in a B2B environment, it needed an effective way to deal with complex pricing structures. They use pricing tiers for different customer segments, so the new search solution needed to show different prices depending on the customer. The default system wasn’t able to adapt prices dynamically and this limited profitability and personalization.

Solution

Luigi’s Box implemented a B2B tiered pricing model. Barron has over 100 customer segments, and each group now sees different prices for products.

Data availability

Barron had very little in terms of data that would show them how their customers interact with search. With limited information about popularity of search queries, behavior, or trends, Barron couldn’t improve the shopping experience.

Solution

Luigi’s Box Analytics tracks all important customer interactions. Barron learns how customers interact with their new website solutions and can make informed business decisions in merchandising, product presentation, and search management.

The extensive overhaul brought fitting results

Barron’s investment into Luigi’s Box paid off with great results. The search usage rate reached 55% with a 51% click-through rate, and a 24% conversion rate. Recommendations also brought great results, including a 24% overall conversion rate and a 66% conversion rate from shopping cart recommendations. Luigi’s Box Product Listing brought a 17% click-through rate and a conversion rate of 18%.
